Program
Come listen to two American Red Cross lead volunteers who will discuss their experiences -- during deployment to natural disaster sites. From their Mission Statement, the Red Cross' “will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.” The Red Cross of Delmarva, founded more than 100 years ago, now serves over 1 million people in nine counties in Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Lloyd Alexander, a Leadership Volunteer with the American Red Cross of Delmarva's Disaster Action Team, was deployed to Katrina and will give an overview of his experiences there including recovery steps.
Joseph Miller, co-captain of the American Red Cross of Delmarva's Disaster Action Team, was also deployed to Katrina and was deployed several times in 2011 to disasters including Irene and spring storms in the south. He will talk about not only his experiences but how a business recovered from one of these horrific natural disasters.
This will be a fascinating look at what goes into assisting families, government entities and companies try to recover from the unthinkable.
